Help us celebrate World Book Night with these five titles sure to take you on a thrilling vacation right from the comfort of your home.

And Then There Were None (US/UK)

Location: Soldier Island, a remote island off the coast of England.

Itinerary: Ten strangers are summoned to a remote island. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they’re unwilling to reveal and a secret that will seal their fate. For each has been marked for murder. As the weather turns and the group is cut off from the mainland, the bloodbath begins and one by one they are brutally murdered in accordance with the lines of a sinister nursery rhyme.

Afternoon at the Seaside (US/UK)

Location: A British seaside resort.

Itinerary: A light, seaside mystery in one act. During a whimsical day by the sea, an emerald necklace has been stolen and the Inspector has to investigate an extraordinary mix of characters.

Part of the triple bill The Rule of Three, which also features The Rats, and The Patient.

Appointment with Death (US/UK)

Location: Petra, Jordan.

Itinerary: An assorted group of travellers find themselves thrown together on an expedition to the rose red city of Petra. At the centre of the group are Mrs. Boynton and her four stepchildren who never leave her side. This apparent devotion however is actually a façade for something far more sinister. Sarah King, a young English doctor, and her colleague, the eminent psychologist, Dr. Theodore Gerard, find themselves embroiled in a battle to free the children from the sadistic grasp of a tyrannical woman. This chilling play offers a unique take on the classic murder mystery, where Christie explores the realms of the sadistic mind and the devastating effects of long term psychological abuse.

Murder on the Nile (US/UK)

Location: The Nile, Egypt.

Itinerary: Kay Ridgeway has led a charmed life. Blessed with beauty, enormous wealth and a new husband, she embarks on a honeymoon voyage down the Nile. Fatal circumstances await when the idyllic surroundings are shattered by a shocking and brutal murder. Under scrutiny is a multitude of memorable passengers, all with a reason to kill. The tension and claustrophobia builds, as a shocking and audacious conspiracy is laid bare.

Fun fact: Murder on the Nile is based on the novel Death on the Nile which is one of the brilliant stories being featured through World Book Night 2020!

The Stranger (US/UK)

Location: A remote country cottage, England.

Itinerary: Enid rejects her fiancé for newcomer Gerald and moves to a remote country cottage with him – where a dark and terrible climax takes place. A small cast, short version of an intimate psychological thriller taken from Philomel Cottage.
