Concord Theatricals is proud to publish three titles – GirlPlay, MUSTARD and SHEWOLVES – which will be performed at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the 75th anniversary of the event. Fancy joining the celebration by attending the performances in person or buying a script? Here’s a quick introduction to the brilliant and radiant plays.

GirlPlay by Sarah Richardson (US/UK)
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 3f)
GirlPlay is an exploration of love and sex spun out in slam through the story of Lucy, who is average, awkward and unassuming. Although she lacks in experience in sex, she makes up for it in curiosity. On a night of firsts, she opens the door to a world of relationships and sex that she had only ever dreamt about.

SARAH RICHARDSON is an actor, playwright and spoken word poet. She trained at the Gaiety School of Acting in Ireland and appeared in a number of the Gaiety’s Shakespeare productions including Macbeth and King Lear. Alongside GirlPlay, Sarah has appeared in other self-penned work such as A Ton Of Feathers that was presented at the NSDF festival 2022 as part of the NSDF Lab programme and was the recipient of the Axis Assemble Associate Artist programme (2020) and FringeLab Artist programme (2020) for her work on her one woman show Sun Bear.

MUSTARD by Eva O’Connor (UK)
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 1f)
When E meets the man of her dreams, a professional cyclist, love hits her in the pubic bone like a train. For a brief period she is high on life – he’s the answer to her crippling loneliness, her self-harm issues, her non-existent career. But when the cyclist cheats on her and ends the relationship E plummets into a black hole of heartbreak. She turns to her only friend – mustard.

EVA O’CONNOR is a writer and performer from Ogonnelloe Co. Clare. She trained at Rose Bruford drama school, and runs Sunday’s Child theatre company with Hildegard Ryan. Her work has been produced in Ireland, the UK, France, Belgium, Australia, and the US. She has won multiple awards for her work, including a Scotsman Fringe First for MUSTARD, at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019.

SHEWOLVES by Sarah Middleton (US/UK)
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 2f)
Ever thought you should run the world, even though you’re ‘only fourteen and a girl’? Priya and Lou have. And they’re ready to bite back against any adult who doubts them. Armed with a backpack full of Pop-Tarts and a hunger to tackle climate change, they embark on a covert expedition into the wild. But when the wilderness closes in around them, can Lou and Priya overcome their differences to make their voices heard? SHEWOLVES is an uplifting and empowering play about what it’s like to forge friendships when you’re a bit weird, emphasizing the power of hope and the underestimated smartness of teens.

SARAH MIDDLETON is a writer and actor from Derby. Writing includes: Little Red Riding Hood (Nottingham Playhouse), The Wishing Stone (Separate Doors/Derby Theatre/Chichester Festival Theatre) and Pinocchio (Nottingham Playhouse). Sarah is an Associate Writer of Middle Child Theatre Company, and attends the BML musical theatre writing programme. SHEWOLVES is her first full-length play.
